Top Three Tips for Better Sentences

  1. Is your sentence over 3 lines long? Then it’s probably best to make two sentences instead.
  2. Are your sentences too short? Lots of short sentences in a formal analytical piece can make your analysis seem shallow. Try adding ‘but’, ‘because’ or ‘so’ to the end of your sentence and continue writing.
  3. Do your sentences follow the same structure each time? Try starting your sentence with ‘although’, ‘unless’ or ‘if’.
